Neem for horses
I have been using Neem Oil on two of my horses with sweetitch for about 12 years now, it really does work and they have full manes and tails. Midges just do not like the smell of neem. I have also used neem successfully for rainscald, mudfever and open wounds. It really is a must for your First Aid Kit.
Neem products are derived from the Neem tree which is native to India. The Neem tree is a botanical cousin of the Mahogany. It is tall and spreading like an oak and bears masses of honey scented white flowers. It`s foliage resembles that of Walnut or Ash and it`s fruit looks very much like olives.It`s medicinal properties are so remarkable and far reaching that it is known locally as “The Village Pharmacy” or “The Miracle Tree”
The subcontinent contains an estimated 18 million Neem trees, lined along roadsides or clustered around markets and backyards. It is seldom leafless and the shade it provides from the hot sun is a major reason why it is so prized in India. As well as a source of shade it is valued for it`s remarkable medicinal properties, especially against Malaria.
Near Mecca, a Saudi philanthropist planted a forest of fifty thousand Neem trees to provide shade and comfort for the two million pilgrims who camp on the plains of Arafat (a holy place where Muhammed is said to have bidden farewell to his followers).
It is also being used to re-forest several Caribbean nations.
Neem products can be used to treat so many conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, itchy scalp, dermatitis ringworm and many other skin conditions. It is particularly effective at keeping midges away from horses that suffer from sweetitch and also works well on rainscald, mud fever and open wounds and grazes.
Neem Leaf and Neem Bark can be taken internally for conditions like stomach ulcers, gastro problems, worms and also boosts the immune system
The Mite shampoo is highly effective against mites, ticks and other parasites.
